themed lunch. So far we have raised over £1300 and the sponsorship money is
still coming in. Thank you to everyone for the amazing support. See more

IS IT A KIND OF MAGIC? |

		 |

		 |

This term our whole school wondering is 'Is it a kind of magic?'
Across the school we have been exploring the wonder of science through
practical investigations and experiments. At the start of our topic,
'The Magic of Science' roadshow visited the school and then on 2nd May
all of the children took part in workshops with Science Oxford. It has
been very exciting! Some of our children have taken part in a science
competition organised by Mrs Cox and our school winners are hoping to
progress to the regional heats. See more photos
		here.

WINNIE THE WITCH VISITS SCHOOL |

		2ND MAY 2013 |

	|
As part of our 'Is it a kind of magic?' wondering, Reception and Year 1
were visited by Winnie the Witch on Thursday 2nd May. Winnie read the
children and parents one of the Winnie the Witch stories and then told them
all about her adventures. The children enjoyed the storytelling and mask
making. We think the parents enjoyed it more though! See more photos
	here.

OFSTED JUDGES OUR SCHOOL AS OUTSTANDING |
		||
Following our inspection at the end of February, OFSTED have

inspector, Sharona Semlali, found our school to be outstanding
				in the four key judgements and for our overall effectiveness;
confirming our self-evaluation that children in all year groups
make outstanding progress because of the outstanding teaching
and highest levels of support that they receive.

	A PIRATE ADVENTURE |

		8TH FEBRUARY 2013 |

	|
Class 2 ended the term and their topic with a pirate day. All of the children and staff came to school dressed as pirates to celebrate the end of a fantastic topic. During the day the children played pirate games, walked the plank and had a real pirate feast. The children have learnt so much through this topic, did you know that pirates did not make people walk the plank... they just threw them overboard! See more photos here. |

	A VIKING INVASION |

		8TH FEBRUARY 2013 |

	|
To celebrate the end of a fantastic topic, Class 3 held their own viking invasion on Friday. They were joined by a 'real' viking Anneke who taught them how to wattle and daub. The children cooked viking bread, made felt and used clay to make oil lamps. They had a great day! See more photos here. |

	SCHOOL CONCERTS |
		||
This year we have celebrated Christmas with two fantastic performances. Our younger children performed 'Born in a Barn' an alternative to the traditional nativity story. Our older children entered into the true panto spirit with their performance of 'The Daring Dick Whittington'. Both plays were brilliant and enjoyed by all. See more pictures of Born in a Barn here and Dick Whittington here |

		 |

		 |

During the week of 19th November, the school supported the National Anti-bullying Week, 'We're better without bullying'. Over the week the whole school worked on deepening our understanding of what bullying is and how it is different to incidents when we fall out with our friends or when something happens which is an accident. The Health Team took the lead on two whole school assemblies and ran a badge design competition. The judging was very difficult but our winners were Poppy (younger) and Aurea (older). The designs will be made into button badges for every child in the school.View our new leaflet for children here.View our new leaflet for parents here. |

	SCHOOL COUNCIL SUPPORTS CHARITY |

		 |

		DECEMBER 2012 |

Following on from an assembly, the children in the School Council have been working on their own merits to support the Medical Detection Dogs Charity. They decided to run a stall at the Christmas Bazaar and raised £86.00 for the charity. They were thrilled to be joined by Magic, one of the training dogs. We are very proud of the initiative and thought this group of children have shown. Well done! |

	INTERNET SAFETY |

		OCTOBER 2012 |

	|
In October the whole school thought about the importance of staying safe
when using the internet. The younger children thought about we call personal
information using the Hector's World cartoon. The children created their own
instructions for keeping safe and their own picture books. The older
children looked at rules for safe use of the internet and email. Our eldest
children thought about safety using mobiles and social networking sites, as
well as the issues concerning cyber-bullying. They wrote letters taking on
the role of a character and wrote discussion texts debating the use of the
internet and mobile phones by school age children.

	HARVEST |

		OCTOBER 2012 |

	|
On Wednesday 3rd October we came together with family and friends for our annual harvest festival at the church. We celebrated the work the children have been doing in school. Class 1 entertained us with a harvest song, Class 2 read some lovely poems, Class 3 showed us their clay fridge magnets and poems and Class 4 made us think hard about the people who have their harvests destroyed through natural disasters. We offered out food donations to the church and next week will be delivering these to the homeless shelter in Oxford. See more photos here |
