BRIZE NORTON PRIMARY SCHOOL

Leilan Smith

ICT Club decided to enter this competition but because we weren't doing local studies we decided to do it about the Tsunami because this linked with work started by Schools Council members to support families in Sri Lanka.  We saw an article in a newspaper saying that a lady called Leilan lost 35 members of her family and we found out that she worked with my Mum, so we contacted her and she helped us with photos, pictures and information.

People in Sri Lanka are starting to rebuild a school for the children who survived.  When the wave hit the people out there lost their school and Leilan sent out tents so that the children can work in the tents.

She connected us by phone to the Stepping Stones school in Sri Lanka and the headteacher spoke to Jack and told us all the things they would like us to collect for them  We are going to organise what they would like and we are going to give them to Leilan and she is going to take them over to Sri Lanka. A dentist, a doctor and two teachers from Gloucestershire will be going with her.   The RAF have kindly said to Leilan that they would take out collections of things over to Sri Lanka without charge.
